Edmund Choi is a film composer and conductor whose credits include two of Australia’s most popular and enduring films, The Castle and The Dish, created in collaboration with Jane Kennedy, Rob Sitch, and Working Dog Productions.
He began his career as assistant to composer Carter Burwell, contributing to a number of acclaimed films including Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy, This Boy’s Life, and Fargo.
Choi’s early collaborations with director M. Night Shyamalan included scoring his first two feature films, Praying With Anger and Wide Awake. Following Wide Awake, the composer signed a multi-picture deal with Miramax Films, which led to his work on the romantic comedy Down to You.
He has also composed and conducted commercial music for clients such as Sony and General Mills. In addition, he conducted the score for The Guru, composed by David Carbonara (Mad Men).
His score for Altered Minds, a psychological thriller directed by Michael Wechsler and starring Judd Hirsch, highlights his ability to create music that is both emotionally nuanced and dramatically suspenseful.
